How to Become an Auditor for SRI
To become an auditor for any certification body, there are criteria that an individual must meet. Certification bodies may also have some unique requirements to ensure their auditors are of high quality. If you are curious about becoming an auditor for SRI please read on to learn the requirements and process for on-boarding at SRI.
Minimum Requirements to Apply
- Provide a certificate of attendance/passing an approved Lead Assessor Course.
- Provide an audit log, against international management system standards, demonstrating at least 20 audit days across 4 or more audits.
- Provide a resume showing at least 5 years of applicable industry experience.
- Identify your full industry background, by completing the SRI Form R20.41.
- If requested, participate in a phone interview.
If SRI elects to On-board (for auditors new to 3rd-party auditing)
- Complete all requested contract and technical paperwork.
- Demonstrate your auditing competency, by participating in audits as a Provisional auditor.
- Complete at least 15 audit days as an SRI team auditor.
- Attend SRI Lead Auditor office training.
- Demonstrate your understanding of SRI procedures by successfully completing an “Acting Lead” audit.
- For QMS, EMS, OHS auditors, complete all activities needed to qualify for applicable technical areas.
If SRI elects to On-board (for auditors currently working for another CB)
- Phone interview to determine depth of 3rd party background and to establish an on-boarding plan.
- Complete all requested contract and technical paperwork.
- Demonstrate your auditing competency, by participating in an audit as a Provisional auditor.
- Attend SRI Lead Auditor office training.
- For QMS, EMS, OHS auditors, complete all activities needed to qualify for applicable technical areas.
